This is a story about a young woman who worked as an office assistant for a small company. One day, after school, and before she went to the office, she called the office manager.
“Hello,” she said. “I would like to know if you are looking for an office assistant for your company?”
“Well, we have an office assistant already and we’re not big enough to hire another,” the store manager told her.
“Okay, thank you,” the woman said. “I am a very hard worker, and I love meeting people. I would be a great customer service representative for your company.”
“That’s very good, but,” the manager again said, “We already have an office assistant.”
“Is he or she doing a good job for you?” The woman asked.
“Actually, she’s very good. Always prompt in getting to work, and the customers seem to really like her. But, I have to say, you sound like a very determined and professional young woman. I’m sure you won’t have any difficulty finding suitable work.”
“Thank you,” the woman replied. “Truthfully, I already have a very good job that I love. I’m your office assistant and just wanted to be sure I was doing a good job.”
